We’re only a week into April and we’d definitely say spring has sprung! Things have been really busy for us, but thankfully we’ve managed to enjoy quite a bit of time together!
A few weeks ago we attended my cousin Caitlyn’s farewell before she left for her mission in New Jersey. She is an amazing girl and I’m sure she’ll change a lot of lives with her goodness and example! We love you, Sister Nixon!
To kickoff Sexual Assault Awareness Month (April), my office hosted Elizabeth Smart on campus for an event. She was inspiring to listen to and I loved getting to spend some one-on-one time with her before the event telling her about our efforts at BYU. It was a wonderful evening and Tom was so supportive by attending and being there with me!
A couple weeks ago I totally fell while walking across Salt Lake Community College’s campus and my phone shattered. I called the Apple store in Murray and made an appointment to get it fixed, and when we got up there they told us they wouldn’t be able to do it. The sales guy we were working with was really rude, so we were pretty upset and asked to speak with the manager. He connected us with an awesome sales associate named Eliza who ended up getting me a whole new phone since they didn’t have the part to fix the screen! We then decided to go to Cheesecake Factory for dinner, and let’s just say our poor customer service experience continued. Our waitress, ironically named Tiffany, was awful and it was just a rough night. We took these pictures after to commemorate our first meal together at Cheesecake Factory… It was super windy and we couldn’t get a great pic, but it’s funny to remember just how crazy the night had been!
On Tuesday, April 4th, Bill had tickets to the Jazz game he wasn’t using, so he gave them to us — which was awesome! We both love basketball and this was a really fun date night! We drove up right after I got home from work and figured we’d grab dinner in Salt Lake. We parked at the Gateway, but all the restaurants there were busy. We decided to just grab something in the arena, but when we got to the door to give them the tickets, I realized my Flash Seats account was outdated and I’d left my ID in the car! We went back to get it, and while we were walking back, I realized how to update things and we were able to get into the game without needing it. We then grabbed some dinner at Cafe Ole (a burrito for Tom and quesadilla for me) and went to our seats to watch the game. It was so fun and the Jazz ended up beating the Portland Trailblazers in what turned into a pretty exciting game, 106-87!
The last few months have been flying by, and April is shaping up to be no different. On Wednesday, April 5th, I dropped Tom off at the airport for some meetings he had back east before he left for Italy to spend time with his kids. It’s REALLY hard being apart from each other for so long, so we spent ever last second together that we could before he left, including about an hour in the airport before Tom had to go through security. We’ll be meeting each other in Boston on Sunday, April 16th and then moving Tom’s stuff across the country — and thankfully making a fun cross-country road trip out of it! We definitely miss each other while Tom’s away, but it will make our time together when he returns that much sweeter!
