This year Tom participated in the Spudman triathalon in Burley, Idaho.  This is a pretty popular race in Idaho and Utah and it was fun to see him compete!  He was actually asked to participate as part of a team with two of his friends, Riley Larsen and Brian Dowdle.  They named their team “Tres > Forty” to indicate that they’re all 40-years-old and yet fit enough to do a triathalon!  Their team did AWESOME and came in fourth amongst the teams!  Tom especially did great, finishing in the top 50 of all participants in the race for his section (the bike ride), which is pretty impressive considering there were over 1,700 people racing!  Next year he wants to do the whole thing (swim, bike, run), but this year was a good introduction and he did such an amazing job!

Checking in and dropping off his bike the night before the big race…

There was such a beautiful sunset the night before the race!

A big pre-race breakfast cooked special for Tom by his mom, a few stretches, and then heading off to the race under a pretty beautiful sunrise…

Killin’ it on the bike — he made it look so easy!

Crossing the finish line!

Tom’s nephew Dawson was also participating in the race… He does a lot of triathalons and it was fun for him to welcome Tom to the triathalon club!
