We’ve had a busy and exciting summer as a new family of three! It was definitely different than last summer when we were just a family of two, but it was fun to have a new baby and experience new things with him! Plus, Isaac is such a good baby that even road trips have been fun and easy. While most of our time is spent with Isaac, we were able to sneak in a few date nights for just mommy and daddy. It’s been a fabulous summer! Here are some of the highlights.
Celebrating daddy’s birthday with a picnic and walk up Provo Canyon… We are so grateful for this guy and loved spending time together even though he had to catch a flight that afternoon!
Memorial Day “hike” in Draper… Really it was just an overlook viewpoint, but it was as close to a hike as we could get with a newborn!
Lots and lots of walks through our neighborhood trails on beautiful summer evenings, enjoying our awesome stroller and the new BabyBjorn wrap one of our neighbors gave us… We live in such a great area and we love being outside!
Adding potted plants to our front porch, which then withstood a pretty crazy rain storm… We love the way they turned out and the extra water certainly helped them grow!
Attending Liza’s baptism… Daddy and Isaac stayed home since our little guy was just a couple weeks old, but mommy attended so she could play the piano. It was a very special day!
Going to the “Fairy Festival” at Gardner Village with our Turley cousins… Even though Isaac was too little to enjoy it, mommy and daddy sure did!
Spending time with the Rempel family, who are from Kansas and stayed with us while hosting a Bible camp with our neighbors… It was so fun to get to know them!
Celebrating mommy’s birthday with a morning at the spa, picnic up the canyon, and a surprise party at Desert Star Playhouse with family!
Spending time at Tibble Fork Reservoir and Silver Lake with Grandma and Grandpa Turley… American Fork Canyon is amazing! Our little guy decided to have a blowout while there, so that was interesting to deal with, but thankfully we managed with the help of many hands!
Going to cousin Kelsie’s wedding in Tremonton, Utah… It was a beautiful evening, though our little guy missed most of it since he was so sleepy and preferred napping in his carseat!
After cousin Kelsie’s wedding, we stopped at JC’s Diner in Tremonton, a random little restaurant that actually turned out to be pretty yummy!
Date night to the Kenny Chesney concert with Danielle and Ryan… “Trip Around the Sun!”
Attending Baby Molly’s blessing day… It will be fun to see how Isaac and Molly grow up together since they are so close in age!
Going to a free concert and food trucks at Neptune Park in Saratoga Springs… We love where we live and all the fun activities we get to be part of! After the concert we went on a walk to watch the sunset, and it was so relaxing and pretty that our little guy fell asleep!
Having a really fun day at Lagoon with our Turley family for Grandpa Will’s work party… It was a blast! Grandma had bought all the grandkids matching clothes, so the pictures looked extra cute and it was fun to see Isaac and Molly together, our two newest babies to the family! Also, our little guy wasn’t content laying down in his stroller as he normally did, so we put him upright and he looked so big — he is growing so fast!
“Flamingling” for Mila’s one-year-old birthday party… It was Isaac’s first time in a pool and he absolutely loved it! Also, mommy had to save cousin Emma’s life TWICE during the party, so it was definitely an eventful evening!
Mommy got a visit from her college roommates… They’ve been friends for almost 20 years now and mommy is sure grateful for their friendship! We also went up to visit one of the roommates, Britta, and her sweet family Andrea, Dante, and Victoria. Isaac and Victoria are only a couple months apart, so we hope they’ll be friends just like mommy and Britta are friends!
Going up to Burley to watch Uncle Jeff participate in the Spudman Triathlon… He did great and daddy even ran part of the race with him!
Celebrating Grandma Joan’s birthday with our Turley family, getting a visit from our Bowcut cousins, and visiting the eye doctor’s office… Some days are just really busy, but also that makes them really fun!
Visiting the graves of Isaac’s great-great-grandparents, Banka and Grandpa Jack… It seems Isaac had a connection with them, because a couple weeks later we were at Nonnie and Grandpa’s house and Isaac just stared at their picture. It’s very sweet and I think they have a special bond even though they’ve never met in this life!
Organizing our basement and getting started on our food storage supply… It’s always good to have, just in case!
Enjoying the last weekend of summer before mommy and daddy went back to work full-time with a barbecue (including delicious grilled pineapple) and some time by our backyard fire pit!
Date night to the Real soccer game while Uncle Bill and Aunt Lindsay watched Isaac… Real won and mommy and daddy got free t-shirts for the white-out game!
Visiting Burley to celebrate Grandma Helen’s birthday and visit the Cassia County Fair… Uncle Pete won an award for his drawing of President Nelson — it was amazing! Daddy and Grandma Helen took care of a moth that came in the house and they weren’t even afraid to climb up on the table to get it!
Watching an absolutely beautiful sunrise in Burley… The sun was reflecting off the Snake River, which was gorgeous, and then it was even reflecting on our car. We LOVE sunrises and sunsets!
Helping Nonnie and Grandpa clean out their garage and yard… It was a busy and full Service Saturday, and even little Isaac was exhausted by the end!
One of the last days of summer, Isaac and daddy came with mommy to work for the University Conference breakfast. It’s a fun annual event and we sure do love anytime we get together, especially during a work day! Plus, Isaac is so good and chill that everyone in the office just loves him!
Watching Uncle Bill complete his first marathon… He killed all 26.2 miles and we were so proud!
Attending cousin William’s farewell before he heads off to Spokane, Washington on his mission… He’ll do such a great job! And doesn’t Isaac look cute in his new church clothes?!
As you can see, it was a busy few months! We loved making memories as a family and know this is just the first of many fun and busy summers to come for our dynamite family! 🙂
