Last weekend we had a quick trip to Burley to celebrate Grandma Helen’s 77th birthday.  It was a great weekend and so fun to celebrate one of the greatest women in the world!

We left about 3:00 thinking it would be the kids’ nap time and they would sleep… Zoey slept but Isaac didn’t. It made for a few rough moments on the drive, along with hitting some traffic, but overall it wasn’t too bad!  Unfortunately the kiddos weren’t loving being in the car, so I moved to the backseat to try and keep them entertained. It worked a little. Sweet Isaac was holding my hand at one point… It warmed my heart!

We got to Burley about 7:00pm and then spent some time playing outside before we had dinner.  Grandma Helen’s yard is gorgeous and big and so much fun!  And, it was such a beautiful night!  The kids enjoyed playing outside.  Isaac especially loved his time playing basketball…

Swinging on the swingset…

And just enjoying Grandma Helen’s big, beautiful yard!

The evening was beautiful so we tried to get some portrait pics of the kids.  Isaac wasn’t super cooperative and kept trying to run away… 🙂

But Zoey cooperated great since she’s not super mobile yet! 🙂  The evening was so fun and we got some really cute pictures!

There was a gorgeous sunset in Burley, and we loved being able to do some stargazing after.  Time just seems to slow down a bit when we’re up in Idaho, in all the most wonderful ways.

After dinner, we put the kiddos to bed.  Both went down pretty easy since they were exhausted from all the fun!  We love these sweet babies so much!

Saturday was a fun and full day!  The kiddos woke up early and then Tom went on a run while we all got ready for the day.  After he got home, we had a big “Burley breakfast” of pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, juice, and fruit.  It’s always so yummy and Grandma Helen is the best hostess!  After breakfast, our sweet little angel girl looked so cute and was even doing well sitting in the high chair, so we just had to get some pics!

We then played and spent time outside because it was so pretty.  Isaac loved being able to just run around everywhere!

Grandma Helen had bought some lawn games, like lawn darts and corn hole, so that was really fun.  We loved being outdoors!

Last summer when we were in Burley for grandma’s birthday, we took a picture of Isaac in one of her big yellow lawn chairs.  We tried to recreate the pictures this year, but he wasn’t having it!

We did get some of Zoey in the big yellow chair though… She was much more cooperative!

We then had a family barbecue lunch and enjoyed visiting with family.  The Bowcuts are such a big family that we meet new family members every time we come to Burley!

Zoey took a nap in the afternoon because she was exhausted from all the fun and new people…

And Isaac kept playing outside.  He love grandma’s backyard and running and playing to his heart’s content.  This face that we captured in the pictures — pure happiness!

We left Burley about 5:30 to head home, and the ride was definitely easier than the drive up because Isaac and Zoey both took naps!  Tom even got a nap in, too. 🙂

Kelly reached out and asked if we could stop by on our way home so Tom could give her kiddos back-to-school blessings.  Of course we said yes, and we arrived to their home about 8:00.  We were there for a couple hours and were able to spend some time with them, along with enjoying a fabulous sunset.

All in all, it was a wonderful weekend and we loved being able to celebrate Grandma Helen’s birthday!  She is an incredible woman and we love her very much, so we cherish every moment we get with her.  It was a great weekend!
