After a week apart, it was absolutely wonderful to finally be back together!  It was made even better by all the amazing birthday surprises that Tom had planned.  It was absolutely one of the best weekends of my life and most definitely the best birthday — I shouldn’t be too surprised though because I have the best husband in the world! 🙂

The evening started with me picking up Tom from the airport and then we drove to our hotel — the Grand America!  I have always wanted to stay there and I mentioned that to Tom once and he remembered.  He is so thoughtful and sweet!  The room was beautiful and it was fun to feel so fancy. 🙂

There was some sort of wedding going on in the courtyard, so we watched that for a minute and then decided to go swimming.  I don’t go swimming often, but we threw caution to the wind and went to both the outdoor pool and the indoor pool.  It was surprisingly fun and I think we should definitely go swimming more often. 🙂

After swimming we got cleaned up and went to dinner at The Roof restaurant in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.  The view was BEAUTIFUL and the sun setting over the temple was breathtaking.  Tom had even told them it was my birthday, so the brought out a special lava cake dessert with a candle!  They had such yummy food… Crab legs, lobster mac and cheese, shrimp scampi, fresh cut ham, and desserts to die for.  It was amazing and such a special experience!

We then walked around Temple Square and continued to take some pretty amazing pictures of the temple.  It was such a perfect night!

Tom had a fun-filled weekend packed with activities, so after dinner we went to the Clark Planetarium and watched a laser light show.  It was something I haven’t done in years!  We also walked around the Planetarium and saw a lot of the exhibits and of course, had a great time doing it!

The next day we spent time in the spa, and it was AHHHH-mazing!  They separate the men and women, which made us a little sad, but it was seriously a completely awesome experience!  I spent time in the sauna, steam shower, and 17-head “experience shower” where they had these amazing honey bath products.  It was fantastic!  I also got the honey moisture body wrap, and it was such a relaxing and awesome experience!  We spent time together in the lounge, eating little snacks and drinking herbal tea.  Honestly, it was one of the greatest weekends and birthday celebrations of my life and I was so appreciative of all Tom’s efforts!

We then went to John Jr.’s homecoming from his mission in Argentina.  He is such a great kid and his talk was by far one of the greatest post-mission talks I’ve ever heard.  It was really special being there and was a fun addition to my already great birthday weekend.  After the farewell, they even had a birthday cake for me and it was so sweet!

After we left John’s, we went to dinner at Market Street Grill.  It’s one of my favorite restaurants in Utah and it was delicious, as always.  We sat outside overlooking the creek, and it was just beautiful.  I even had a celebratory jalapeno margarita for my birthday, and it was a great ending to a wonderfully fabulous birthday weekend!

I’m pretty sure I have the most amazing husband in the world, and this was one of the greatest weekends of my life!  Thirty-six is already turning out to be my best year yet, and I can’t wait to see what else is in store!
